EASY HIKING TRAILS IN NWA


Lake Atalanta Trail

Lake Atalanta is a reservoir along Prairie Creek in Rogers with a 1.8 mile loop trail. It features a beautiful forest setting and is appropriate for all levels. Aside from hiking/biking, there are many activities available for the whole family like kayaking, paddle boarding, and a children’s playground. The trail is accessible year-round. [1]


Razorback Regional Greenway

The Razorback Regional Greenway in Northwest Arkansas is a project that has been years in the making. The concept of a regional greenway project has been a goal of regional planners, cities, and residents of Northwest Arkansas for more than two decades. This vision was supported by the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission (NWARPC), which in 2000 began a long-range planning process that included regional trails as a key component. A task force formed by the NWARPC conducted public meetings and facilitated a coordinated effort among the communities of Northwest Arkansas. [2]


Historic Van Winkle Trail

The trail head parking lot, with restrooms, is located approximately 10 miles east of Rogers, AR, U.S. Hwy. 12. Walkers and Hikers can access historic area via tunnel under Hwy. 12. Interpretive sign panels describe the historic home and mill sites of the Peter Van Winkle family during and after the Civil War. Also, there is a beautiful stream, spring and raised garden site. Only some rock foundation stones remain of buildings. Guided tours available. [3]


Battlefield Loop Trail

Battlefield Loop Trail is a 1.1 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Prairie Grove, Arkansas that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for walking and nature trips and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. [4]
